About me
Rachael T. Overcash, MD, MPH, is an attending physician specializing in maternal and fetal medicine at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. She currently serves as the Director of the Perinatal Center. Dr. Overcash specializes in the management of high-risk pregnancies, including prenatal diagnosis with ultrasound, amniocentesis and genetic counseling. She works with obstetricians to co-manage complicated pregnancies and provides direct prenatal care to women with high-risk issues such as diabetes, obesity, and hypertension. Dr. Overcash believes that each woman should feel comfortable with her pregnancy. Her philosophy of care is to provide the tools, knowledge and education to help women navigate their complicated pregnancies with the goal of having a healthy baby.
Dr. Overcash is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. In addition, she is an active member of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and a committee member of the Foundation for Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Her teaching experience includes serving as a clinical instructor in reproductive medicine at the University of California, San Diego, and her research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Journal of Perinatology, Journal of Pediatric Surgery, Maternal and Child Health, the American Journal of Medical Genetics, and Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology. She currently serves as a reviewer for Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Overcash is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
Dr. Overcash received her medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, where she also completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology. She continued her training with a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at the University of California, San Diego. She also holds a master of public health degree in health policy and management from the Yale University School of Public Health in New Haven, Connecticut.
