The MedStar Health—Georgetown/Washington Hospital Center Residency Program in Integrated Vascular Surgery
The MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and MedStar Washington Hospital Center Vascular Surgery Integrated Residency and Fellowship Program train residents to provide comprehensive care for patients with all forms of vascular disease. Residents and Fellows are exposed to a combination of advanced open and endovascular techniques while rotating at a variety of practice locations including a level one trauma center, an academic hospital which specializes in limb salvage, and one of the busiest Veterans Administration Medical Center, right in our nation's capital.
Why train here
The MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and MedStar Washington Hospital Center Fellowship program in Vascular Surgery is a two-year program completed directly after general surgery residency that includes rotations at three area hospitals. Fellows will be exposed to vascular medicine, clinical research in vascular disease, and vascular lab education, incorporated into two years of advanced open and endovascular technical training.
Combining the strength of three area hospitals
MedStar Georgetown University Hospital presents the opportunity to focus on limb salvage within a comprehensive multi-disciplinary wound care center, which affords an extensive experience in peripheral vascular procedures of the lower extremity.
The Veterans Administration Medical Center is the nation's flagship VA hospital, located across the street from the Hospital Center and provides experience in treating the spectrum of vascular disease. Additionally, trainees have the opportunity to develop clinical research projects and are trained to accept increasingly independent operative responsibility. Fellows and residents participate in national clinical trials throughout their training.
