About me

Malady Kodgi, MD, is a senior attending physician in the at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center and an attending physician at the National Rehabilitation Hospital. He is also a member of the Pain Committee, working to ensure inpatient pain satisfaction.

As a pain management specialist, Dr. Kodgi specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of spine, joint and musculoskeletal pain. He sees patients for radiculitis, lumbar stenosis, lumbar radiculitis, disc disease, chronic low back pain, facet joint pain, and back pain related to strains, sprains, and the sciatic nerve. Dr. Kodgi works closely with doctors at the MedStar Orthopedic Institute of Georgetown to provide care for all of these conditions. In order to provide a comprehensive approach to care, he coordinates with orthopedic physicians to create a care plan that best fits the needs of each individual patient.

Treatment methods used by Dr. Kodgi include epidural injections, transforaminal injections, radiofrequency ablation, joint injections, trigger point injections, bursitis injections, ablation and spinal stimulation. Additionally, he utilizes sympathetic blocks, celiac plexus blocks, impar blocks, and trigger point injections.

Dr. Kodgi received his medical degree at Kasturba Medical College and completed a residency and board certification in orthopedic medicine at Mangalore University in India. He then arrived in New York, where he completed a general surgery internship at the Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in New York City. Dr. Kodgi joined the MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital at the Georgetown University Medical Center for residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Finally, he completed fellowship training in pain management at MedStar Washington Hospital Center before joining the staff full-time.

Philosophy of Care
“My primary goal is to improve function for my patients and reduce the burden on their bodies by using the least amount of medical intervention necessary. I believe in providing honest and practical care. In order for my patients to understand their diagnosis and treatment options, I communicate based on a foundation of transparency. I view myself as an extension of care. I provide appropriate consultations and interventions that help treat pain in addition to the care an individual is currently receiving.”

Even though the provider seemed very concerned, it seemed to end after the visit because I have a very hard time reaching her for my medication . Maybe she should give at least one refill in case I cannot get an appointment.
