BALTIMORE — MedStar Visiting Nurse Association is proud to announce that Cortney Amend, RN, a clinical lead for the homecare company’s Middle River, Md., location, earned the Excellence in Nursing award from Baltimore magazine. During National Nurses Week, Baltimore magazine recognized the region’s top nurses for their extraordinary contributions to healthcare. Amend received an award in the Hospice/Home Health/Palliative Care category for the fantastic care she provides patients in their homes every day.
According to Carmen Lott, VP of Nursing Services, “Cortney is a great nurse and we are thrilled that she earned this recognition. She is an excellent representative of our patient first value and her patients cannot say enough good things about her. We receive positive comments and requests for her care on a regular basis. This award is well deserved.”
Baltimore magazine awarded 75 of the region’s top nurses, spanning 18 specialties. They will be featured in the May issue of the magazine. Among the Excellence in Nursing award winners, the MedStar Health system boasts 10 additional honorees from other Baltimore-area locations, including: Rosine Castro, Barbara Chandler, Carolina DelaCruz, Mary Herster, Jessica Johnson, Rebecca Landreth, and Akira Swift of MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center; Michelle Sauter and Shannon Queen of MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital; and Philberta Noble of MedStar Union Memorial Hospital.
