About me
Raymond K. Young II, MD, is a cardiologist with MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute practicing at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital and MedStar Union Memorial Hospital. Dr. Young focuses on improving the health of all patients with cardiovascular ailments including: coronary heart disease, valvular heart disease, heart rhythm disorders, and congestive heart failure.
His specialty is treating patients with pulmonary hypertension, and navigating through the complex diagnostic and therapeutic challenges of this patient population. He is working with clinicians in the community and beyond to help establish a clinical home at MedStar specifically for pulmonary hypertension patients.
Dr. Young’s philosophy of care is to treat patients like family members. He strongly believes that demonstrating kindness, empathy and at times a paternalistic approach is key to establishing a solid healthcare alliance. He also ensures that patients are fully educated in their care options –as it allows the patients to feel more involved in their treatment.
