Jeffrey A. Matton is senior vice president for Integrated Operations, MedStar Health. His role encompasses operational responsibility for clinical and support services across the health system to support the Distributed Care Delivery Network including MedStar Health’s hospitals, Ambulatory Services and MedStar Medical Group. Integrated Operations includes Pharmacy, Laboratory, Imaging, MedSTAR Transport, Supply Chain, Food and Nutrition and Environmental Services, as well as capacity and throughput.
Most recently, Matton served as senior vice president for Performance Transformation, a systemwide, multiyear initiative focused on performance and operational excellence. He was responsible for the comprehensive oversight, direction, and implementation of systemwide initiatives to advance MedStar Health’s delivery systems and business operations to achieve sustainable effectiveness and efficiency.
Prior, Matton served as president of MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital and was responsible for the hospital’s overall strategic and operational direction. He also held a system role as a senior vice president for MedStar Health. Under Matton’s tenure, the hospital built on its reputation for excellence in Orthopaedics, Nephrology, Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, and Burn Reconstruction. The hospital also advanced its care coordination services to the community with new and expanded programs such as the Center for Successful Aging, outpatient neuropsychiatric services and disease specific offerings through the Good Health Center. Prior to this role, Matton served for three years as the hospital's senior vice president and chief operating officer.
Before his time at MedStar Good Samaritan, Matton served as vice president for Professional Services at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Prior to which, he served as executive director and assistant vice president of Washington Heart at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.
With more than 25 years of experience, Matton has extensive senior management knowledge, including system operational integration, strategic expansion of specialty services, development of strategic partnerships, implementation of significant capital projects, operational transformation, quality and service performance improvement initiatives, creating physician partnerships, and developing clinical programs.
Matton holds a Master of Health Administration from the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University and a Bachelor of Business Administration with a finance concentration from The College of William and Mary. In addition, Matton has a certificate of executive leadership from the Georgetown University Center for Professional Development and a certificate of executive leadership from the Aresty Institute at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Matton is a Juran Institute certified lean six sigma green belt. Matton serves as adjunct faculty in the Department of Health Services Administration at the Georgetown University.
