Michael J. Curran is executive vice president and chief administrative officer for MedStar Health. Curran is responsible for administrative aspects of more than 25 companies that comprise the region’s largest and most comprehensive healthcare delivery system with annual revenues of $5.8 billion. He has oversight of operations for Information Systems, Integrated Support Operations, Performance Improvement, Internal Audit, Security, and Enterprise Analytics and Business Development.
Joining MedStar Health in 2002 as the executive vice president and chief financial officer, Curran brought more than 20 years of senior level experience in the healthcare industry. In 2009 he was also appointed as chief administrative officer. As the chief administrative officer role expanded, Curran relinquished his chief financial officer responsibilities in 2017. Prior to his position at MedStar Health, he served as the chief financial officer and treasurer of the Jefferson Health System, the largest healthcare delivery network in the Philadelphia region. Curran began his career with the international accounting firm Deloitte & Touche.
As a certified public accountant, Curran also holds a master’s degree in organization dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science in accounting from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
Presently, Curran is a member of the Board of Directors of Chesapeake Regional Information System for Our Patients (CRISP) and recently served as the chairman of its Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Vizient Central Atlantic and a member of the Board of Directors of the MNS Supply Chain Network and recently served as the chairman of its Board of Directors. He previously served on the Board of Directors of the Glenelg Country School in Howard County, Maryland, American Red Cross Regional Board of Directors, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Board of Directors and as vice chairman for the Board of the Elwyn Institute.
