Mike Varner
Michael W. Varner serves as the vice president of brand marketing and strategy for MedStar Health. In this role, Varner is the brand champion for the organization with strategic responsibility for developing and managing the system brand value proposition. Functionally, Varner leads the organization’s omnichannel brand advertising, management, activation, and experience; market research and consumer insights; sports partnerships; and reputation management.
Varner joined MedStar Health in 2017 with more than 20 years of experience in marketing and management, most recently serving as Executive Vice President of Brand Strategy and Management at WoodSpring Hotels. Prior to this role, he held progressive roles at global organizations including Ford Motor Company, 3M, Campbell Soup, and Choice Hotels.
Varner earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science at the University of Notre Dame and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business.
