Athanasios Thomaides, MD, is a cardiac electrophysiologist at MedStar Heart and Vascular Institute.
He is certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and cardiac electrophysiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and a Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society (FHRS).
Dr. Thomaides received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics at the University of California, Los Angeles. He then worked for two years in clinical research at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas prior to attending medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He completed his internal medicine residency at Indiana University School of Medicine and his cardiology fellowship at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. He then moved to Washington, D.C. where he completed a cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital/Washington Hospital Center.
