About me
Alison Wogatske, CRNP, is a nurse practitioner who is board certified in adult-gerontology acute care as well as family practice at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center. She is also a nurse practitioner at MedStar Health Urgent Care. She specializes in the treatment of various pulmonary conditions including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, pulmonary nodules, and tobacco use. Her memberships include the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Her approach to care prioritizes listening to patients and providing holistic services that address their specific wellness goals. During pulmonary consultations, she discusses medical histories with patients followed by evaluating their respiratory and lung functions. Working closely with experienced pulmonologists, the team then collaborates with patients to design personalized treatment plans. She is also a nurse educator who provides tobacco-smoking cessation counseling, lung cancer screenings, inhaler education, asthma management, and COPD management services.
Alison is dedicated to expanding access to lung cancer screenings to help more people identify the disease early and receive timely treatments. Her current clinical interests are asthma and tobacco-related lung diseases. She has a particular interest in the advancement of biologic therapies for severe and persistent asthmas. This type of medication is made from cells of living organisms and is modified to target antibodies, inflammatory molecules, or cell receptors. Referring physicians should know that Alison delivers evidence-based services and comprehensive support to help patients seamlessly navigate their continuum of care.
Philosophy of Care
“I strive to help all my patients optimally control their symptoms and live their best possible quality of life. My methods include creating a trusting environment where we can discuss their anxieties and barriers to comfort. Another approach is educating them about various screenings such as pulmonary function tests, which measure how well their lungs work. My overall goal is to be a reliable healthcare partner who is available every step of the way.
My joy of serving others extends into my personal life. For example, I enjoy crocheting and creating hats and blankets that are donated to infusion centers. Every act of kindness matters, and I’m happy to continue doing my part.”
