About me
Board certified in transplant hepatology, gastroenterology and internal medicine, Dr. Rangnekar is a transplant hepatologist in the MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute, and assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at Georgetown University. He also has a Master of Science degree in healthcare research, with a special interest in viral hepatitis and acute liver failure. Besides his medical education role at Georgetown, Dr. Rangnekar served on a national committee for hepatology training.
Dr. Rangnekar has won recognition for his contributions in training other physicians, in translating research into clinical practice, and in patient care. Toward that end, he is highly rated by MedStar Georgetown patients for his listening skills, ability to explain complicated conditions and treatments, and other factors patients value.
Philosophy of Care
As a physician who treats patients with a variety of serious liver diseases, some which require a transplant, part of my job is to carefully explain the diagnosis and treatment in a way that patients and their families understand. I also take the time to listen to my patients, so that I can better understand their symptoms and identify the best treatment options for them. Patient care informs my contribution to liver disease research and provides me with the experience from which to teach physicians and students in training.
