About me
Angelica N. Ferrazzi, DNP, is a nurse practitioner who is board certified in adult-gerontological primary care at MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center. She specializes in cancer services that include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and symptom management. She also is a member of the Advanced Practitioner Society for Hematology and Oncology, Oncology Nursing Society, Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association, and American Geriatrics Society.
Angelica’s approach to care centers on providing holistic medicine and comprehensive support. She begins by actively listening to patients to understand their specific well-being goals. She reviews medical records, orders lab tests, and requests imaging studies to gain in-depth insights about their conditions and health histories. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team of medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and specialized surgeons, she then combines personalized treatment plans with reliable medication education, nutrition therapy, appointment navigation, and social services to enhance patients’ quality of life.
Angelica is passionate about the field of immunotherapy – precision medicine that uses a person’s own immune system to find and fight cancers. She is particularly interested in genomics to identify DNA mutations that cause tumor growth. This type of study can lead to more precise cancer diagnoses and individualized care options. Referring physicians should know that their patients do not need to travel outside of their communities for expert and extensive cancer services.
Philosophy of Care
“I’ve witnessed countless moments of courage and hope throughout my career. Along with patients bravely battling cancers and loved ones empathetically offering support, I’ve had the privilege of being a part of amazing teams that made significant differences in the lives of diverse communities. They include older adults who sometime require mobility, fall prevention, home safety, and medication management assistance. Specializing in gerontology, I’m dedicated to helping aging individuals receive the high-quality physical and mental health care they deserve…compassionately treating them like members of my close-knit family.”
