About me
Antony Kaliyadan, MD, is a fellowship-trained interventional cardiologist who holds certifications in cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and vascular imaging.
Dr. Kaliyadan's interests and expertise centers around complex coronary interventions, atherectomy, coronary imaging, and circulatory support devices. He also has a special interest in peripheral interventions and structural heart procedures including TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement), PFO (patent foramen ovale) closure, ASD (atrial septal defect) closure, mitral valvuloplasty, etc.
He completed his fellowships in interventional cardiology, and structural and peripheral interventions at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, his residency at Reading Hospital and Medical Center, and attended medical school at Jefferson Medical College. As a former chief medical resident, he took an interest in resident education and was elected teacher of the year. As part of his fellowship, Dr. Kaliyadan championed the transradial cardiac catheterization procedure. This procedure has become the gold standard for cardiac catheterization and MedStar Union Memorial Hospital performs more than 80% of catheterizations transradially.
Dr. Kaliyadan considers his ability to treat patients with complex cardiovascular disease a privilege. His philosophy of patient care centers on evaluating each patient individually and offering them the most minimally invasive approach possible for their condition. He is energized by the newer novel techniques and technologies that offer opportunities for treatment where no treatment was available before.
