About me
Dr. Oluseyi Princewill, MD, MPH is a board-certified cardiologist practicing in Olney, MD and Ellicott City, MD. She is also the Nuclear Medicine technical director. She treats a full spectrum of cardiac disorders, with a primary focus on the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, women’s health, and heart failure. She has extensive experience performing transesophageal echocardiograms, direct current cardioversions, electrocardiograms, and echocardiograms. She also interprets a full range of tests including exercise treadmill stress tests, stress echocardiograms, nuclear stress tests, Holter/event monitors, and vascular studies in order to better understand her patient’s current condition and to provide an accurate diagnosis.
Beyond her clinical duties, Dr. Princewill remains committed to educating the community and pursuing her scholarly interests. She does talks focused on women’s health at events such as Medstar Montgomery’s annual Wine, Women & Heart Health Event, and the DMV Chapters of the Links, Incorporated 10th Annual Red Dress Day Event. She has also been interviewed on Fox 5 DC and WJLA’s Good Morning Washington. Her research has been published in journals like JACC: Heart Failure, Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes, and JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions. Dr. Princewill also mentors high school, college, and medical students with the hopes of encouraging more children to become healthcare professionals.
She is a graduate of Duke University and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). While at MGH, she had the opportunity to serve as a visiting resident at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa, an institution famous for being the hospital where the first heart transplant took place. She later earned a Master of Public Health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health as a Commonwealth Fund Fellow in Minority Health Policy followed by a fellowship in cardiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Philosophy of Care
“Patient-doctor communication is vital for me. I make myself readily available to patients and referring providers through phone and email. It is a privilege to partner with patients on their healthcare journey and to help them understand their cardiac risks and diagnoses. The goal is to combine exercise, diet, and stress reduction with other treatment options in order for my patients to lead healthier lives.”
