Shandiz Shahbazi, MD, is a highly-skilled, fellowship-trained female gastroenterologist. Dr. Shahbazi was nominated and inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society, recognizing physicians who are exemplars of compassionate patient care and who serve as role models, mentors, and leaders in medicine.  

With a specialization in diagnosing and treating a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, Dr. Shahbazi expertly addresses esophageal disorders, stomach and small bowel conditions, colonic disorders, and other diseases affecting the digestive system. 

 

Through her interactions with patients and families, Dr. Shahbazi advocates for colon cancer screening and the importance it plays in early detection. Dr. Shahbazi performs precise screening colonoscopies for detecting colon cancer and flat polyps.

 

She has a particular interest in:

Dr. Shahbazi earned her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, followed by a highly sought-after Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine and board-eligible in Gastroenterology. 

 

Her professional affiliations include the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American Gastroenterological Association, reflecting her dedication to staying at the forefront of advancements in her field. 

 

When not practicing medicine, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, cooking Mediterranean dishes, dancing, hot yoga and traveling to explore the world’s cultures and cuisines.
