About me

Stephanie Stormes, MD, is an obstetrician/gynecologist at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Dr. Stormes is board certified in the US and fully board certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as well as the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada.

Devoted to the well-being of her patients, Dr. Stormes provides care to women throughout their life—from adolescence, through the reproductive years, pregnancy, and menopause and beyond— addressing all of a woman’s health care needs as they change throughout the different stages of her life.

Her areas of clinical interest include family planning, breastfeeding medicine, postpartum care, minimally-invasive surgery using laparoscopic techniques, pregnancy loss, high-risk pregnancies, obstetrical emergencies, and medical education. She pays special attention to the postpartum period, both the mental and physical health of mothers after birth. She also has an interest in global health, having worked in hospitals and clinics in Ghana, Nicaragua, and Guyana during her training.

Dr. Stormes completed her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Alberta, Canada. She attended medical school at St. George’s University, graduating in 2012, after completing a broad spectrum of clinical rotations in the United States as well as Grenada, the West Indies, and Kenya. Prior to her career in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Stormes trained in family medicine at the University of Massachusetts, where she had a focus on women’s health and global health. She realized that she could not deny her passion for obstetrics and gynecology and subsequently completed OB/GYN residency at Inova Fairfax Hospital. She is active in medical education and has previously received teaching awards recognizing her devotion to learners.

Philosophy of Care
“I am an advocate for my patients and I aim to empower them with knowledge. I’m here to celebrate the best days with them and to support them in their worst days. I’m extremely passionate about improving healthcare for women worldwide.”

“It is a special honor and privilege to accompany a woman through her health care needs, starting from adolescence, to pregnancy, postpartum, and through the end of her reproductive years. The nature of my practice means that I form a unique relationship with each and every one of my patients, treating each woman as an individual with careful attention paid to her specific needs.”

Dr. Stormes listened to all my concerns and provided her expertise advice. She was very knowledgeable of my condition and seemed very concerned.

  • Oct 7, 2024

Fantastic Physician very knowledgeable, polite, great bedside manners.

  • Sep 24, 2024

I appreciate that Dr. Stormes could see me on short notice. I'm grateful for the exam because she saw I need additional care. Her manner was very, very abrupt, dismissive, disrespectful.
