About me
Syed H Shabbir, MD is the Director of Epilepsy and Medical Director of the EEG lab at Franklin Square Hospital. He is also an Associate Professor of Neurology at Georgetown University Medical Center. He studied neuroscience at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor graduating with Honors and High Distinction. He completed his medical training and neurology residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City with Distinction in Reseach. He specialized in Clinical Neurophysiology with a focus on EEG, Epilepsy and Surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
He is board-certified in Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology / Epilepsy by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He also has board certification in Clinical Neurophysiology with added competency in Critical Care EEG Monitoring by the American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology. He has authored papers that have been published in major journals.
He was named a Top Doctor by Baltimore magazine in 2023 and 2024.
He sees patients at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center providing comprehensive evaluation and treatment of all adult neurological disorders. He specializes in seizure disorders and their treatment, however also has an interest and expertise in Headache disorders, Migraines, Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease / Dementia and Stroke.
He strives to develop a personal rapport with every patient. Dr. Shabbir feels that by learning from his patients, he can provide better care and build rewarding, trusting relationships.
