Dan received his undergraduate degree in psychology with a minor in neuroscience from Wake Forest University. He then spent 2 years as a post-baccalaureate research assistant at the National Institute of Mental Health before starting medical school at Georgetown University School of Medicine. After receiving his medical degree in 2020, he remained at Georgetown to begin his psychiatry residency. As a resident, he developed a proactive consultation-liaison model at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. During this pilot, he worked closely with Georgetown’s Plastic Surgery/Limb Salvage team to systematically screen for mental health concerns in order provide earlier intervention when warranted. After fellowship, Dan plans to continue working in the inpatient setting with a specific interest of utilizing a proactive CL psychiatry model to provide earlier identification and interventions for hospitalized patients with mental health symptoms.
