R. Austin Farnath, MD
Austin is a proud "yinzer" from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He moved to Washington, D.C. in 2012 while working as a middle school Spanish teacher with Teach For America. Teaching led him to find his love for medicine. Little did he know, his undergrad days as an International Studies major at Dickinson College had laid the foundation for a deep-seated passion for Infectious Diseases. His interest in medicine and commitment to his adopted home led him to Georgetown University, where he completed both medical school and residency. Austin’s interests include general infectious diseases, tropical medicine, sexual health, risk reduction, and antimicrobial stewardship. Austin is a true nerd at heart. When he is not in the hospital, he can be found spending his time playing Dungeons and Dragons with friends, sharing his love of Andalusian cooking, and snuggling with his dogs.
