Dr. Christopher Haas is an Associate Program Director, Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine, and Research Director for the MedStar Health Internal Medicine Program. He grew up in New York City and attended Boston College for his undergraduate studies where he took his first foray into the research world at Tufts University Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences. Following completion of his B.S. in Biology, he did research at Columbia University Medical Center. He subsequently completed a dual M.D. / Ph.D. degree at Drexel University College of Medicine and transitioned to Internal Medicine Residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital's Osler Internal Medicine Residency Program.
Following completion of his residency he was hired as Academic Faculty/ Academic Hospitalist at MedStar and ultimately transitioned to full-time faculty as of July 2020. He currently attends on clinical service at MedStar Franklin Square and MedStar Harbor Hospital, working directly with house staff. He is extensively involved in resident research and is currently the Director of Research for the residency program. He loves high-value, evidence based medicine, and clinical teaching. As a former Oslerian, he strives for his residents to understand the pathophysiology behind each disease and consider each laboratory and diagnostic study in the care of patients on the medicine ward.
When not in the hospital he can usually be found with his wife, daughter, and dogs picnicking in Sherwood Gardens (a little known Baltimore gem) or hiking.
