As the APD for Ambulatory training, Dr. Allison Windels oversees resident training in the outpatient setting, including resident continuity clinic, outpatient subspecialty clinics, and a robust outpatient curriculum.
Dr. Windels grew up in Northern New Jersey. She came to Georgetown University to pursue her undergraduate degree in biochemistry and sociology, and the rest is history. She received her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and went on to complete her training in Internal Medicine at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in 2017. She stayed an additional year as a chief resident, solidifying her desire to practice academic medicine. She jumped at the opportunity to work at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital’s General Internal Medicine clinic, where she sees her own panel of patients and supervises residents in their continuity clinic.
Dr. Windels is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine and is the Site Director for the Third Year Ambulatory Medicine Clerkship. She is currently a member of the Georgetown University Medical Center’s Teaching Academy, and enjoys working with medical students at all levels of training, especially in the physical diagnosis course during the preclinical years. Her clinical interests include women’s health, co-management of transplant patients, and health literacy. In her role
as Assistant Program Director, Dr. Windels oversees all three clinic sites, with direct supervision of residents in Georgetown GIM Clinic, and is responsible for fully integrating telemedicine into the ambulatory experience. In her free time, Dr. Windels practices yoga and chases her bubbly toddler.
