Michael Shang, Ph.D.

Dr. Shang is a Medical Physicist at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, primarily working on proton therapy and innovative radiation treatment approaches. He earned his PhD in Medical Physics from the University of Florida and joined the team in 2021 as Georgetown's first medical physics resident, continuing as faculty in 2023. Dr. Shang's research interests include AI-based prediction models for radiation therapy, proton LET optimization, Flash, and Quality of Life outcomes for cancer patients. He is actively involved in resident education and serves on AAPM committees, including Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives.
