Brooke Patten, PhD, serves as vice president of Operations for MedStar Medical Group, where she is responsible for administrative systemwide oversight over the MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute (MHVI). Prior to this role, Brooke served as vice president, Surgical Services, for MHVI. In this role, she provided oversight for the MHVI Cardiac Surgery Services and Vascular Surgery Services, and worked closely with the surgical service chairs to expand and grow the cardiac and vascular surgical services throughout MedStar Health.
Brooke worked in hospital and pharmaceutical consulting prior to joining MedStar Washington Hospital Center in 2012, where she joined as the business manager and then business director for Perioperative Services. In 2014, she transitioned to the position of assistant vice president for Vascular Surgery, managing the vascular surgery service line for MHVI across the MedStar Health system. During this time, the vascular program grew from six employed surgeons to 22 employed surgeons, with established programs at every MedStar Health acute care hospital and multiple ambulatory locations.
Brooke received a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University in 2000, and earned her PhD in Molecular Neuroscience from Harvard University in 2005.
