Joe Ugast
Joseph Ugast serves as the senior vice president of Operations for MedStar Medical Group, where, in partnership with clinical pillar and entity leadership, he will lead operations within all entity and entity-based practices and be accountable for achieving the financial, operational, and quality objectives therein.
Prior to coming to MedStar Medical Group, Ugast spent 10 years at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, where he most recently served as regional director of the MedStar Georgetown Orthopaedic Institute. In this position, he was the senior manager responsible for all financial, operational and administrative aspects of the various departments within the Orthopaedic Institute. This included the successful planning, management and analysis of department budgets, sponsored research, program development, information systems, human resources, facilities management and regulatory compliance to maximize the operational potential of the departments.
Before that, Ugast worked in various management and financial positions for the Georgetown University Department of Pediatrics and OB/Gyn, the Faculty Practice Group and the Community Practice Network.
Ugast holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a minor in Marketing from the University of South Carolina.
