Michael Meisel, MBA, CHFP
Michael Meisel serves as the chief financial officer for MedStar Medical Group, a position he has held since August 2023. In this role, Michael provides oversight of financial reporting, practice management economics, operating and capital budgeting, long-range financial forecasting, revenue cycle, performance benchmarking, physician compensation model design and management, and pro forma development for practice acquisitions and facility initiatives. Michael partners closely with the senior management team and system finance and revenue cycle teams to facilitate the development and achievement of operational, financial, and strategic objectives for the medical group.
Michael joined MedStar Health in 2020, serving as Vice President, Chief Financial Officer for MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center and MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital, managing all finance functions of the hospitals with a focus on transformation and analytics. During 2022, Michael also served as Interim Vice President of Revenue Management & Reimbursement for MedStar Health. Before joining MedStar Health, Michael spent 10 years with the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), holding progressive system-level roles serving the financial planning needs of the organization, culminating with a role focused on operations improvement and system integration.
Michael earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in finance from Towson University and a Master of Business Administration from Loyola University Maryland. He is an active member of the Maryland Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
