Vice President of Medical Operations and Executive Pillar Chief
Nadim Haddad, MD, serves as vice president of Medical Operations and executive pillar chief for MedStar Medical Group. In this role, he is responsible for providing strategic direction for the growth of MedStar Health’s multisite, multidisciplinary GI service line across the region, including nine MedStar Health hospitals and dozens of ambulatory sites of services. He also is charged with implementing the strategic vision for the service line, as well as facilitating growth of related programs in research and education.
 
Dr. Haddad is nationally recognized as a leader in the field of Gastroenterology, as a result of his work on the national pancreatic cyst registry and the development of new endoscopic techniques guiding cyberknife treatment of malignant diseases. He has special expertise in advanced endoscopic techniques with a focus in pancreatico and biliary disorders. His research interests include utilizing pancreatic cyst fluid biomarkers to differentiate benign from cancerous lesions, the use of endoscopic ultrasound to stage the extent of pancreatic cancers and the use of endoscopic retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) to diagnose and treat pancreatico-biliary diseases.
 
Since 2001, Dr. Haddad has been an active and highly regarded member of the medical staff at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Haddad served as the Program Director for the Fellowship in Gastroenterology from 2003-2014. He became the Director of Clinical Operations for the Division of Gastroenterology in 2013 and shortly thereafter was appointed as the Chief of the Division in July 2013. In July 2014, Dr. Haddad was then appointed to a new role as Regional Director for GI Services at MedStar Southwest Region.
 
Dr. Haddad earned his Medical Degree at Texas Tech Health Science Center and subsequently completed his residency in Internal Medicine and his Gastroenterology Fellowship at MedStar Georgetown University.
