Sarah Greene, MPH

Sarah Greene, MPH, is a consultant, researcher, and strategist with expertise in learning health systems, health communication, electronic health data, and person-centered care. Much of her career has been focused on building productive, sustainable multi-site research consortia. Most recently, she was the inaugural Executive Director of the Health Care Systems Research Network (HCSRN), a consortium of embedded research centers, where she led all of the organization’s operations.

Currently, Ms. Greene is focused on consulting and advisory roles, applying her versatile skillset and intellectual curiosity in the areas of health data sharing, and the realization of continuously learning health systems. Consulting clients have included the National Academy of Medicine, Kaiser Permanente, the National Cancer Institute, and the HCSRN. She also serves on the Board of several large research institutes, state-based health care improvement organizations, and research networks (IMPACT Collaboratory, NIH Pain Management Collaboratory). Previously, Ms. Greene served as an Associate Director at PCORI, providing intellectual and organizational leadership for collaborators on PCORI’s National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network, PCORnet.

Ms. Greene held multiple positions at Group Health Cooperative (now Kaiser Permanente Washington), including strategy director, and research institute faculty member, where she studied patient-centered cancer care, tailored strategies to improve healthy behaviors, health literacy, implementation of research in clinical practice, approaches to improving the research process, and optimizing collaboration. Throughout her career, Ms. Greene has frequently served in strategic planning, change management, and team development roles, and complements these skills with strong technical capabilities including literature synthesis, evaluation, and analysis. An accomplished writer and speaker with more than 150 publications and presentations, she has shared her work at the National Academy of Medicine, American College of Cardiology, and American Medical Informatics Association and AcademyHealth, among many other organizations. Ms. Greene received both her MPH and a BA in Psychology and Italian from Indiana University, and resides in Seattle.
