Allan Fong, MS, is a senior research scientist with the National Center for Human Factors in Healthcare and is the data science lead at the Center for Biostatistics, Informatics, and Data Science at MedStar Health Research Institute. He oversees developing, integrating, and applying advanced technologies and techniques to study and improve healthcare systems.
Allan specializes in human factors, engineering, and computer science. His research focuses on information synthesis, visualization, human cognition, and behavior modeling. He has extensive experience applying neural networks, machine learning, and natural language processing techniques to significant patient safety and clinical datasets to develop robust models. A leading researcher in machine learning and natural language processing applications for healthcare, Allan has led over fifteen peer-reviewed publications.
Allan received a Master of Science in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a second Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Maryland College Park, and a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Columbia University. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children and cooking.
