Jennifer RemingtonWASHINGTON, D.C., (December 9, 2016)— Jennifer Remington, MHSA, assistant vice president of Graduate Medical Education (GME) at MedStar Health, was elected to serve a three-year term, commencing Nov. 11, 2016, on the Steering Committee of the Group on Residents Affairs (GRA) of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).

The GRA promotes exemplary leadership for high-quality GME, and is an authoritative source on GME principles and practices in the medical education continuum within the AAMC and nationally. The GRA's annual leadership certificate course is highly competitive, and its many other educational offerings (including an annual national meeting for GME professionals) provide valuable networking opportunities, professional development, and the tools that improve the quality of resident education at both the program and institutional levels.

“Jen will bring a valuable perspective to the GRA as leader over one of the largest graduate medical education programs in the country,” said Jaime Padmore, DM, MSc, vice president of Academic Affairs at MedStar Health. “We oversee more than 1,100 medical residents and fellows annually, which provides us great insight into the needs of this community,” Padmore added.

GRA representatives are appointed through the dean of an accredited U.S. medical school, the chief executive officer of a member of the AAMC Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH), or the president of a GME-related member of the AAMC Council of Faculty and Academic Societies (CFAS). As a whole, the GRA represents the institutional leaders of GME who are responsible for accreditation and administration at their AAMC member organizations.
