MedStar Health Opens New Urgent Care Location in Washington, D.C., to Serve the Navy Yard Community

Care includes illness and injury, full x-ray capabilities, specialty telehealth consults, rapid PCR testing, and more.

WASHINGTON – MedStar Health has opened a new urgent care facility at Navy Yard, the third location in the District of Columbia and the 33rd serving Maryland, northern Virginia, and the District.

The 4,088 square foot site is located at 41 L St., SE, two blocks north of Nationals Park, and centrally located in the Capitol Riverfront area. With seven exam rooms for providing care, the location also offers a separate lab area, an X-ray room, telehealth services with various MedStar Health specialists, and can offer language interpretation services including American Sign Language.

Details about specialized services available include:

• Telehealth consultations during exams for six major specialties including cardiology, emergency medicine, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pediatrics, and spine (with ENT and vascular telehealth specialists coming soon)
• X-ray services and real time radiology interpretation
• EKGs
• Rapid PCR testing for all ages for strep, COVID-19, flu, and RSV; results within 30 minutes using new technology without needing to wait days for culture confirmation
• Rapid STD testing for females
• Rapid HIV testing for males and females
• Other onsite lab testing includes mononucleosis, urinalysis, pregnancy, glucose, urine drug screening

“This new urgent care is located in close proximity to MedStar Health Primary Care and MedStar Health Physical Therapy, so the growing Navy Yard community has easy access to a variety of medical needs in one convenient area,” said Elizabeth Delasobera, MD, vice president and chief medical officer of MedStar Health Ambulatory Services. “In addition, MedStar Urgent Care patients have access to the vast MedStar Health referral network of hundreds of specialists, if they need it.”

All 33 MedStar Health Urgent Care locations are open seven days a week, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and serve diverse populations, from young children to seniors. MedStar Health Urgent Care accepts most private insurance as well as in-state Medicaid and Medicare, supplemental insurance, and self-pay patients. Patients can reserve a spot online or walk in during all hours of operation and all patients will have access to a secure patient portal to view lab and radiology results.
