If you are experiencing lymphedema (swelling) in your arms and legs following cancer surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation, our rehabilitation team can help. Physical and/or occupational therapy may be recommended by your physician as part of your lymphedema management plan.
We offer rehabilitation services for patients with:
- Limited range of motion
- Weakness of the affected limb
- Pain
- Muscle imbalances that may have resulted from surgery
- Decreased activity levels
When lymphedema presents, the patient is offered a comprehensive approach to restore maximum level of function. Treatment may include:
- Manual lymphatic drainage and therapy
- Gradient compression bandaging of the limb
- A comprehensive exercise prescription for flexibility, strength, and edema management
- Posture and breathing exercises
- Aerobic and conditioning exercises
- Sequential compression pump, if indicated
