Katie Jo Mattingly, MSN, RN, RNC-OB, C-EFM is the Director of Clinical Nursing Informatics for MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital. In this role, she provides leadership in the organization's ongoing assessment, evaluation, planning, development, implementation, education, and performance improvement for clinical information system processes, clinical workflows, and integration. She ensures patient safety and the quality of patient care through online documentation, integration, data analytics, and improved workflow efficiencies.
She started her career at MedStar St. Mary’s in 2007 as a student intern and has since moved through the roles of patient care technician, staff nurse, and prior to her current role, the assistant director of the Women’s Health & Family Birthing Center. She has represented MedStar St. Mary’s in several state quality improvement initiatives including Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, Reducing First Time Cesarean Sections, Safe Sleep, and Reduction in Early (< 39 week) Elective Deliveries. She is the co-chair for the MedStar Health Quality & Safety Council, the chair for the MedStar St. Mary’s Quality & Safety Council and serves as a liaison to the MedStar St. Mary’s Nursing Informatics Council.
Katie earned an Associate of Science in Nursing from the College of Southern Maryland, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University, and a Master of Science in Nursing – Concentration in Leadership and Administration from Capella University. She holds a national certification in inpatient obstetric nursing and electronic fetal monitoring. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses, and is a designated fetal monitor instructor.
