Robert Elrod, BSN, RN is the Director of Behavioral Health at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital. In his current role, he serves as a nursing leader and is responsible for direct oversight for the operations of Behavioral Health Services, which include Inpatient Psychiatry, Psychiatric Day Treatment, and Emergency Psychiatric Services.
Elrod obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Salisbury University. Prior to his current role, he worked as a Nurse Manager at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital, prior to joining MedStar St Mary’s in 2003.
He is the local chair of the workplace violence committee and serves as the hospital liaison to the system workplace violence committee. Additionally, he serves on the system suicide prevention workgroup and BH Clinical Nursing Practice Council. As a resource to the community, he serves as the hospital liaison on the St. Mary’s County behavioral health action team, opioid intervention team, and overdose fatality review committees.
