Following her dedication and love of sports, Rebecca Schumer, DPT, graduated from The George Washington University in 2006 as a dual-sport Division 1 athlete and then again in 2010 with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
Beginning her career in the acute setting, Rebecca quickly realized her passion for Sports Medicine and began working at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, MedStar NRH Rehabilitation Network & Sports Medicine. She then spent a year working with D1 athletes at Loyola University in Maryland before transitioning to the role of clinic coordinator of the clinic inside USA Lacrosse Headquarters since 2016. Since then, she has stepped down from her clinic coordinator duties and is now a program specliaist for the network which includes hosting our PT Podcast called “Let’s Get Physical (Therapy)”, teaching at Marymount University’s DPT Program, collaborating with the local running community to screen for injuries and provide education, connecting with students, as well as leading our social media efforts for our PT community.
Ranging from recreational to elite-professional sports, Rebecca has treated athletes of all levels and has been involved with research projects related to pre-participation screening tools and their effectiveness in predicting injuries. Rebecca's passion lies in analyzing movement and creating an individualized treatment plan that optimizes the patient's function and helps the patient, at minimum, return to their prior level of function, if not beyond.
