The MedStar Health Vascular Surgery Program aims to be a trusted resource for the diagnosis and management of all vascular pathology—from the most common to the most complex. Our program has grown to be the largest in the mid-Atlantic region with 23 board-certified surgeons coordinating care at 11 hospitals and 20 outpatient sites with non-invasive vascular laboratory imaging services. Regardless of the site, you will find a team dedicated to providing the highest quality, most compassionate care centered on the individual needs of each patient.

Advanced care for complex and rare conditions that affect the blood vessels
Our vascular surgeons evaluate and treat diseases that affect the blood vessels. We are the largest and most experienced vascular disease program in the area. We perform more aortic surgeries than any other health system in the mid-Atlantic region, serving the areas of Washington DC, Baltimore, Maryland, and Virginia. We are a recognized leader in the treatment of peripheral artery disease.
Our specialists are widely respected, and area vascular surgeons often refer patients with complex cases to us. We work with each patient’s primary care physician as well as other MedStar network physicians, such as diabetes and kidney specialists, to ensure a well-rounded approach to care.
Our program is at the forefront of advanced technology and procedures. We collaborate on numerous clinical trials and help train the next generation of surgeons through fellowship and residency programs.
We treat patients with traditional and minimally invasive endovascular techniques, which we can perform at the same time as needed in our hybrid operating suite. The suite incorporates advanced operating room functionality with much higher-quality imaging technology than is available at most centers.
