Recognizing the value in bringing resident perspective to the executive leadership team, the MedStar Health Physician Leadership Council, under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Stephen Evans, began accepting applications from PGY-2 and above residents and/or fellows in the fall of 2015.
After an extensive review of all the applicants, the Council welcomed Dr. Lee Wong, MD, Chief Resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Medstar Franklin Square Medical Center and Dr. Aaron Rich Ducoffe, MD, a PGY-2 resident physician in the Department of Radiology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.
Dr. Wong and Dr. Ducoffe stood out for their unveiling dedication and leadership in health care—not only in their respective fields, but regionally and nationally as well. They will spearhead efforts to improve communication with residents and fellows throughout the system. MedStar Health has more than 80 graduate medical education programs and more than 1,000 residents and fellows spread across six sponsoring institutions.
Dr. Lee Wong, MD
Chief Resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology

Born in Oakland, California, Dr. Lee Wong completed her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry with a minor in East Asian history at the University of California, San Diego, where she developed an interest in preventative medicine and health policy. Dr. Wong then worked at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, California. She then moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she earned a master's in public health with a concentration in health management and policy at Drexel University School of Public Health.
Dr. Wong pursued her passion for medicine and completed her medical degree at Saba University School of Medicine in Saba, Netherlands-Antilles. Dr. Wong currently is Chief Resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Medstar Franklin Square Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland, where she is completing her training and is a strong advocate for access, prevention, and wellness in women’s health.
Dr. Aaron Rich Ducoffe, MD, PGY-2
Resident Physician in the Department of Radiology

Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Ducoffe graduated from the University of Michigan in 2009 and went on to earn his MD at Emory University School of Medicine in 2013. He began his residency training at the University of Florida in orthopedic surgery, a field in which he has had multiple publications related to spine surgery.
He simultaneously developed strong interest in healthcare policy and quality. He was awarded an ORISE fellowship as a Health Policy and Quality Fellow in the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in Washington, D.C., There, he worked closely with colleagues across all branches of HHS on projects and publications regarding prevention of adverse drug events (opioids) and healthcare associated infections as well as evaluating and reducing racial and ethnic disparities in preventable adverse health outcomes.
Dr. Ducoffe then returned to his clinical training at MGUH in the Department of Radiology, where his primary clinical and research interests are in interventional radiology and integrating health care quality and policy.
