Saira Aslam, MD, MHA, FACC, FACHE
Saira Aslam, MD, MHA, FACC, FACHE, is MedStar Washington Hospital Center’s senior vice president and chief operating officer.
Dr. Aslam, a cardiologist, has a robust healthcare operations background. Before joining the Hospital Center, she was chief of staff and chief operating officer for the National Capital Region Market in the Defense Health Agency. She also served as the chief of staff and chief operating officer at both Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, the largest academic medical center in the Military Health System, and at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, the largest community hospital in the Military Health System.
She began her military career in 1994 at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, where she earned her medical degree in 1998. Commissioned as a Navy Lieutenant that same year, she completed her Internal Medicine internship and residency training at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego.
Dr. Aslam is board certified in Nuclear Cardiology, Adult Echocardiography, and Coronary CT Angiography. Among her many recognitions, she has earned a Joint Service Commendation Medal, a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and two Army Achievement Medals.
