Adult Outpatient Program
Our adult outpatient psychiatry program offers one-time comprehensive evaluations, short-term psychotherapy, short-term medication management, and group psychotherapy treatment options. All treatment is short-term – approximately 3-6 months depending on the needs of the patient and the treatment offered. All treatment starts with a one-time evaluation to determine if our clinic is the best fit for the patient and to provide treatment recommendations. As an academic medical center, we have residents and fellows seeing patients and providing treatment alongside our faculty.
The Mood and Anxiety Disorders Consultation Clinic provides diagnostic evaluations, treatment recommendations, and second opinions for adults between the ages of 18 and 65. These disorders are very common problems that affect people's quality of life, personal relationships, productivity, and general health.
The department offers various different group options for treatment. While a number of groups come and go, there are two main options for adults in the MGUH Outpatient clinic.
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Skills
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Skills
- Other: Various other groups rotate by provider availability. These have included topics such as: Psychodynamic Interpersonal, Perinatal Mental Health, Process Oriented Group and Support and Coping for Depression and Anxiety Group.
Our compassionate experts use evidence-based approaches to provide patients with depression, bipolar disorder, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or other mood and anxiety disorders, potentially beneficial diagnostic evaluations and multidisciplinary treatment options.
