Program Director, Georgetown University Hospital Breast Oncology Fellowship Program
Clinical Professor of Surgery, Georgetown University Medical Center
Site Director, MedStar Breast Health Program at MedStar Washington Hospital Center

The MedStar Health Breast Oncology Fellowship is accredited by the Society of Surgical Oncology. Fellows rotate between an academic medical center (MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, MGUH) and a large tertiary teaching hospital (MedStar Washington Hospital Center, MWHC) both members of the MedStar Breast Health Program. The MedStar Breast Health Program operates sites across the Washington region, including at the two flagship tertiary centers, MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and MedStar Washington Hospital Center. The growing regional program currently employs seven fellowship-trained breast surgeons and six fully dedicated nurse practitioners. MedStar has surgeons located at each of its 5 acute care hospitals in the Washington area and has expanded to freestanding breast centers in three community locations.

The philosophical approach of the Georgetown University Hospital Breast Oncology Fellowship is one of focused multidisciplinary breast care management. Between the two sites, fellows will have exposure to a diverse patient population and multiple subspecialty experts in the field. In addition to extensive and varied surgical experience, fellows have substantial exposure to breast imaging techniques and interpretation, mammography, ultrasound, breast MRI, image-guided biopsy and localizations using wires and radioactive seeds. The fellows also have rotations in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Pathology, Cancer Rehabilitation, Genetics, Community Outreach, Psycho Oncology, and Research.

Our faculty members are well-known leaders in the management and treatment of breast disease and cancer, and are leaders in the arena of clinical research in cancer care.
