The MedStar Health-Washington Hospital Center Residency Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology seeks individuals with a high level of academic accomplishment and a strong commitment to the field of women's health. Interest in both clinical research and medical education is also highly desirable. Our program takes a holistic approach when reviewing applications.
All applicants must apply and submit supporting documents through the ResidencyCAS. Applications are due October 31.

How many positions do you have annually?
We will have 10 PGY-1 positions.

Do you accept applications outside of ResidencyCAS? What is the deadline for applications?
No, all applicants MUST apply through ERAS. Our deadline is October 31st.

Do you participate in The MATCH? What is the deadline to submit my Match List?
Yes, we participate in The MATCH for all PGY-1 positions. All applicants need to register for The MATCH through ResidencyCAS. The deadline for submitting your Match List to the NRMP is typically late February. For further information about this process, you can to the NRMP website (http://www.nrmp.org/applicant-registration/).

What are your requirements for the USMLE/COMLEX exams?
Applicants must pass USMLE/COMLEX 1 on their first attempt. USMLE Step 2 will be required for the application cycle.

Will your program have in-person or virtual interviews?
Our will program will be conducting virtual interviews.

Do you have any specific requirements for letters of recommendation?
We require 3 letters which MUST be submitted as part of the overall ERAS application. Letters should be from individuals with whom the applicant has worked closely and can speak to the applicant’s qualification for residency. One letter should be from the chair, program director and/or clerkship director. A 4th letter will be accepted but is not a requirement. Standard Letter of Evaluations (SLOE) are not a requirement.

Does the program accept letters of interest?
You will have a chance to “signal” your program preferences and this will be the best way to let us know your specific interest in us. We receive many emails during the recruitment season and may be unable respond to your email. We would also like to maintain fairness to all applicants.

Does the program accept J1 visas?
Yes, applicants who are not U.S. Citizens or green card holders must be ECFMG-certified and eligible to apply for the appropriate visa before beginning a residency at MedStar Health-Washington Hospital Center Residency Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
J1 Visa- This visa is sponsored by ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates). J-1 holders are required to return to their home country after the completion of training for two years before they can return to the U.S. The application process takes approximately 6-8 weeks. The applicant is responsible for paying all fees associated with the J-1 visa.

Is the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certificate required at the time of application?
Yes, a copy of the certificate MUST be included as part of the ERAS application process.
