Application information
Eligible applicants can apply to the MedStar Health Administrative Fellowship Programs through the National Administrative Fellowship Centralized Application Service (NAFCAS) or by mail. All applications are due by September 27, 2024. Applications submitted past September 27, 11:59 p.m. will not be accepted.

How many fellows are accepted into the MedStar Health program?
MedStar Health accepts one fellow to each of its three programs (MedStar Health System, MedStar Washington Hospital Center, and MedStar Ambulatory Services) on an annual basis.

What kind of experience will I gain in this fellowship?
This fellowship is largely self-guided, so you will help to determine your experience! The fellowship is project-based and exposes the fellows to a broad range of operational and clinical aspects of an integrated health care delivery system. For examples of the type of projects former fellows have worked on, please reference our past projects located on each program’s fellowship page.

Can I apply to all three fellowship programs?
You may apply for up to two programs. You can elaborate within your personal statement on why you have chosen and ranked the fellowship programs you are applying to. -
Will final round interviews take place in-person?
Yes, the final round interviews will take place on-site. More information will be provided upon final round invitation.

I received my graduate degree a year or more before I would start the fellowship program, am I still eligible to apply?
No, eligible applicants will receive their degree either 12 months prior to starting the fellowship, or will receive their degree upon completion of the fellowship program.

Am I able to apply to a MedStar Health Fellowship if my degree completion is contingent on completing an administrative fellowship?
Yes, applicants are eligible to apply to the MedStar Health Fellowship Programs if their degree completion is contingent on completing the fellowship.

Do I have to apply for the Administrative Fellowship through the NAFCAS portal?
No, you may mail your materials to the address listed below. All materials should be sent in one package. Please note the materials must arrive by the application deadline in order to be considered. Reach out to one of the current fellows if you have any concerns regarding submitting an application.
